Your First Visit
Your first visit is all about you - Your comfort, Your education, and Your health.
During your first visit, Dr. O’Keefe or Dr. Watts will complete a comprehensive exam. This means that a complete record of x-rays will be taken with one of our dental assistants and then the dentist will join you for a comprehensive evaluation. He or she will examine your x-rays, perform an oral cancer screening, evaluate the state of your tooth structure and measure the gums and bone around your teeth to ascertain the state of your jawbone which serves as the foundation of your teeth. We will typically take multiple close-up photographs of your teeth so that we can better monitor your ongoing dental health as well as to illustrate to you the condition of your mouth. This helps you to make a more informed decision about your own health. At the end of your first visit, we will present your various treatment options.
The purpose of the first visit is to determine all your dental needs as best as we can, both to determine immediate concerns as well as to help you plan for future issues that may arise. We aim to be as conservative in our recommendations as possible.
If you would like further esthetic discussion, the assistant will take models of your teeth and another set of larger format photographs of your entire mouth. After the dentist analyzes these records, we will invite you back for a second appointment to discuss all your esthetic options. We charge a fee for the models, but do not charge an additional fee for esthetics appointment.
We work hard to provide you with the best dentistry and the best service, and we find our new patient exams illustrate this philosophy very well.
We look forward to welcoming you to our practice.
